Renewed Alliance Focuses on Roadway Safety, Materials Handling

OSHA and the Delaware Safety Council Inc. renewed its workplace safety and health alliance at a signing ceremony this week at the Wilmington OSHA area office. Through the alliance, the agency and the council said they will deliver training and educational programs on roadway flagging safety and defensive driving, specifically targeted to business and corporate fleet operations. Additionally, DSC said it will work together with OSHA to provide expertise to develop workplace safety and health curricula on safe operation of material handling equipment.

"Today's signing affords us the opportunity to continue the important work we started in an effort to make traffic work zones safer for equipment operators and workers," said Domenick Salvatore, area director of OSHA's Wilmington office, on Wednesday.

Training programs will be offered on a monthly basis and are normally conducted jointly by DSC and OSHA personnel. For more information, contact OSHA's Wilmington area office at 302-573-6518.
