New Release of CourseMill LMS Adds Multiple Tweaks

A company with a learning management system (LMS) primarily used for professional development — but also in standard higher education classes — has updated the software to improve reporting and management. Version 6.8.2 of CourseMill from Lectora delivers a number of new enhancements:

  • Single sign-on through support of Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML);
  • Use of an "exempt student" status in the gradebook module;
  • Re-enrollment notice — when the system re-enrolls a student, the action is noted in the gradebook module and appears in the student's transcript;
  • Denial notification that sends students who have been denied enrollment a message;
  • Automatic addition of an e-commerce shopping cart image when that type of implementation is being used; and
  • Easier access through the LMS to functionality in other Lectora programs, including Talent Management and Mobile.

CourseMill provides standard LMS features, such as discussion forums, real-time chat, the ability to host videos, audio, and documents. It also includes:

  • Mobile support, giving students access to LMS features from their smartphones;
  • Blended learning support, automatically placing course information about faculty-led instruction directly into students' calendars;
  • Multi-language versions, including English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Polish, Hungarian, and Mandarin;
  • The ability for students to self-register and unregister; and
  • Multiple instructor support for a single course.

The software is available as an on-premise program or as a cloud-based application. It has been used by instructors at Michigan Virtual University and Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
