EHS Audits: Tips to Make your Audit a Success

With an average of more than 100 workplace fatalities occurring per week in the US alone, it is apparent that there are many opportunities to improve an organization's safety program. Audits are an essential tool for evaluating the compliance status of an EHS program and identifying improvement priorities. But, they can be stressful -- for both the auditee and the auditor. An audit requires that resources be redirected during the auditor’s visit. Responding to the audit findings becomes another set of important tasks competing with other site priorities. Auditors can become too focused on the rigor of the pre-, onsite and post- audit methodology. Opportunities for the audit to provide additional value to the auditee are often lost. Some audits are not considered a success for a variety of reasons, including poor preparation and planning, ineffective communication and lack of post-audit follow-up.

During this webinar, we will share expert tips to improve the EHS audit process and ensure a successful outcome. Some of the topics we’ll cover include:

  • Defining the audit scope to maximize value
  • Optimizing the EHS audit planning process
  • Assembling the EHS auditor’s toolbox
  • Communication strategies throughout the audit process
  • Using the audit results as tools to provide value for the organization’s overall compliance and sustainability program
