Total Worker Health for Occupational Health and Safety Professionals

The workforce faces many challenges and concerns such as stress, chronic diseases, and working and living well into older age, all of which can affect worker health and/or safety. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Total Worker Health (TWH)™ approach provides safety and health professionals with a way to take occupational safety and health to the next level to also address other workforce health concerns. A TWH program acknowledges that workplace safety and health risks are influenced by multiple factors such as environment, social conditions and personal health behaviors – both on and off the job. A TWH approach can enhance worker safety and well-being by making the work environment and work processes more supportive of worker well-being.
Participants will gain knowledge of principles, rationale and best practices of a TWH approach. Examples of how a TWH approach can be used within an occupational safety and health program will deepen participants’ understanding of TWH. Safety and health professionals will identify practical, feasible action steps to introduce Total Worker Health practices into the workplace.

VAC-U-MAX provides over 65 years of process automation and industrial vacuum cleaning solutions to industries worldwide. The company has grown from the dreams of its founder Frank Pendleton who in 1954 invented and patented the world’s first industrial vacuum cleaner powered by compressed-air to service the highly combustible textile mills industry of New Jersey and highly flammable applications requiring the evacuation of jet fuel from the wing tanks of the first Boeing 747 aircraft. A pioneer with many firsts, in 1965 VAC-U-MAX entered the pneumatic conveying business designing the first vacuum-generated venturi power unit with patented noise suppression to convey black powder for a US ordnance manufacturer. Today pneumatic conveying technology is the most commercially accepted means of moving materials from source to destination. VAC-U-MAX product range includes pneumatic conveying systems and a full range of portable, continuous-duty and central vacuum cleaning systems for high volume recovery of many types of materials including metalworking debris, flammable liquids, and combustible dust.
