Beyond OSHA: Leveraging Updated ANSI Standards for a State-of-the-Art Fall Protection Program

The landscape of the fall protection industry is continuously advancing and changing, especially in light of the updated OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910) that became effective in January 2017. At the same time, ANSI standards related to fall protection (Z359) are also being updated to keep up with evolving technologies and practices.

Many organizations have been updating policies, procedures and programs to achieve compliance with new OSHA regulations, and recent or forthcoming changes to the ANSI standards can also impact key aspects of an organization's fall protection program. This session will outline the make-up of the current ANSI Z359 standards and provide insight on soon-to-be released standards. After this session, participants will be better able to assist their organizations in reducing risk by applying best practices outlined by the standards. The presenter, who is vice chair of the Z359 standard, will share insights on how to process and use the information to form the best strategy for applying the information to reduce risk for your workers at heights.
