Creating an Electrical Safety Program, Why It’s Important

We hear a lot about arc flash and NFPA 70E these days, but the most important aspect of electrical safety-- the electrical safety program--often gets overlooked. Many organizations have implemented a variety of safety procedures and processes. They have effectively implemented NFPA 70E at their facility; conducted some form of training or an arc flash assessment; and labeled their equipment. Yet they fail to tie it all together with a comprehensive electrical safety program. And both OSHA and NFPA 70E require that employers have such a program encompassing all aspects of electrical maintenance and safety. This overview will cover the HOW and WHY of creating such a program, the topics to consider, and the steps that must be taken to ensure worker safety.

Jay and David will discuss how to update your existing program, problems to look for, and tips on keeping it ongoing in an ever-changing regulatory environment.
