Scott Margolin,

Scott attended Franklin & Marshall College and the University of Delaware. Prior to joining Westex in 2000, he was a firefighter for six years, and spent ten years at a major international chemical company, the last four of which he led their aramid flash fire business. Scott has extensive experience with the performance of many protective apparel fabrics; he has conducted or observed over 3200 flash fires and more than 1000 electric arcs at laboratories in the United States, Canada and Europe. Included in this work are the largest and most comprehensive flash fire test series ever conducted by and independent lab; unprecedented field analysis of the energy, duration and hazards of actual flash fires in an outdoor industrial environment, a 3 year arc flash project conducted by a major electric utility which used actual equipment and real system energies, making major advances in confined space and overhead work; and recent groundbreaking testing of low-voltage equipment arcs. Scott participates in a number of industry organizations, including Edison Electric Institute, National Safety Council Utilities Division, ASTM, and NFPA. He frequently addresses trade associations and groups regarding electric arc and flash fire hazards, body burn injury, the protective performance of flame resistant clothing, and related topics.
