The Opioid Workplace Safety Program will provide up to $5 million over two years to help employers in Montgomery, Ross, and Scioto counties hire, manage, and retain employees in recovery from addiction.
DOL's news release did not elaborate or mention what the department has in mind, saying only that DOL "plans to update the Overtime Rule, and is interested in hearing the views and ideas of participants on possible revisions to the regulations."
Along with equal pay and opportunity, the new law says employers cannot stop workers from disclosing their wages to others or require workers to sign non-disclosure agreements about their wages.
"Never before in this series of data have these percentages been so low, providing evidence that the 2017 American workforce was more secure in their jobs than at any other time that this survey was taken," DOL said in a statement about the new BLS report.
The June 17-20 conference will include more than 230 concurrent sessions on topics such as prescription drug overuse, workplace depression, bullying and harassment, workplace violence, health care reform, financial wellness for young workers, and more.
During a Capitol Hill hearing May 8 on the opioid epidemic's implications for the Federal Employees' Compensation Act, one witness said the program must build an approach that includes random screening for all patients who are prescribed opioids.
