Wood Products Manufacturing Facility Redesignated “Star” Site

Huber Engineered Woods LLC was renamed a "star" site after an evaluation in April 2022.

A company in Maine that manufactures wood products has been renamed a “star level” site under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).

Huber Engineered Woods LLC had its designation renewed following an evaluation in April 2022. At the Easton, Maine site, about 135 workers make “oriented strand board for commercial and residential construction,” according to a news release. It was first named a “star” site in 2019.

"The level of workplace safety and health for this Maine wood products manufacturing facility is commendable," said OSHA Regional Administrator Galen Blanton in Boston in the news release. "Site leadership supports employee involvement in all aspects of a comprehensive safety and health management system and works to eliminate industry hazards such as fires, combustible dust and struck-by events."

The VPP recognizes companies that have excellent health and safety systems, according to its websiteCurrently, there are 1,994 federal and state-plan sites in OSHA’s VPP.
