OSHA, American Staffing Association Sign Ambassador Alliance

The alliance focuses on the health and safety of temporary workers.

OSHA and the American Staffing Association (ASA) have recently signed an alliance on the health and safety of one group of workers.

The Ambassador Alliance will allow ASA to continue to protect the health and safety of temporary workers, according to a press release. ASA and OSHA officially signed the alliance on August 9, 2022.

Since OSHA and ASA first signed an alliance in 2014, renewed in 2016, the two agencies have “promot[ed] OSHA’s Temporary Worker Initiative,” hosted webinars and ensured workers’ voices were heard through a committee.

"Temporary workers are, by law, afforded the same workplace protections as permanent employees," said Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Doug Parker in the press release. "We are grateful for ASA's continued dedication to helping OSHA educate temporary workers about their rights and train host employers and staffing agencies on their responsibilities to protect the safety and health of this vital part of the workforce."

The OSHA Alliance Program allows the agency to partner with organizations to promote worker health and safety. Organizations wishing to participate in an alliance must meet criteria.
