Thousands of New Coronavirus Cases Set New U.S. Record

The new record number of cases surpassed 85,000.

The United States experienced a new high in reported coronavirus cases on October 23, according to the New York Times.

Reportedly, more than 85,000 cases were reported at the end of the day on Friday. There are concerns that this surgery will continue as cold and flu season progresses.

Six states either set or tied weekly records for COVID-19 related deaths.

“It’s been rise after rise, week after week,” said Dr. Tom Inglesby, director of the Center for Health Security at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. “Nothing has been added to the mix that’s going to make things slow down.”

The most recent outbreaks are spread across the country in states like Texas, Wyoming, Illinois and Rhode Island.
