OSHA Publishes COVID-19 Worker Exposure Risk Chart

Taken from its guidelines on preparing workplaces for the coronavirus, OSHA’s worker exposure chart is a one-page chart on evaluating your workspace’s risk level to COVID-19.

A few weeks ago, OSHA released Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19, and it outlined a system to classify worker exposure to the coronavirus, ranking from lower exposure risk to very high exposure risk.

The document is lengthy, however, so OSHA has made classifying worker exposure a bit easier with a one-page chart, titled Worker Exposure Risk to COVID-19.

Just like the original guidance document, the shorter chart outlines an occupational risk pyramid for COVID-19 and categorizes jobs with very high to low risk exposure. It is an easy tool to send to workers working remotely on site, and it is perfect for displaying at worksites and offices. Transparency and proactiveness have proven to be critical during this time and anxiety, and workers have been vocal about wanting communication from employers.

While this chart serves as an easy and accessible way for employers and workers to understand their risk to the virus, it might also be worthwhile to check out OSHA’s longer Guidance document. The longer document goes into depth on the virus, steps employers can take to protect workers, job-specific examples, OSHA services, travel trips and suggestions for workers.

Occupational Health and Safety Magazine goes into depth on OSHA’s Guidance document.
