FMCSA Chief to Deliver Automated Vehicle Symposium Keynote

The symposium is co-hosted by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International and the Transportation Research Board and will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott during July 15-17.

Raymond P. Martinez, administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Automated Vehicle Symposium in Orlando, Fla., on July 18. The symposium is co-hosted by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International and the Transportation Research Board and will be held at the Orlando World Center Marriott during July 15-17.

Chris Urmson, co-founder and CEO of autonomous technology developer Aurora and former chief technology officer for self-driving cars at Alphabet, will deliver a speech at the conference on July 16. Other speakers and panelists announced by AUVSI include Jim Adler, managing director and board member of Toyota AI Ventures; Marcus Burke, director, automated vehicles, at the Australia National Transport Commission; Finch Fulton, deputy assistant secretary for transportation policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation; Dr. David Kidd, senior research scientist with IIHS and the Highway Loss Data Institute; Dr. Ed Straub, director of the SAE Office of Automation; Professor Trent Victor, senior technical leader, crash avoidance, for Volvo Cars; and Dr. C.Y. David Yang, executive director of the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
