OSHA Partnership Signed for Wisconsin Construction Project

The partners will focus on falls, electrical safety, silica exposure, and safe practices for steel erectors and aerial boom lifts.

OSHA and Eau Claire, Wis.-based contractor Market & Johnson have signed a strategic partnership to promote workers' safety and health during the demolition, remodeling, and construction of Phillips-Medisize’s new manufacturing facility in Hudson, Wis. OSHA's announcement said the partners will focus on falls, electrical safety, silica exposure, and safe practices for steel erectors and aerial boom lifts.

The partners will conduct daily audits and weekly trainings on hazards identified at the site and best practices, and they will promote workers' participation in safety and health programs.

Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site on Feb, 15, 2019. The site is located in the St. Croix Meadows development in Hudson and is expected to support at least 230,000 square feet of manufacturing space for FDA-regulated products, according to the company.

OSHA reported that other organizations participating in the partnership include the Wisconsin On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 14; International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 9; Laborers Local Union No. 268; Carpenters Locals 1074 and 322; Sprinkler Fitters Local 668; Cement Masons Local 599; and Bricklayers and Cement Finishers Local 19.
