Trucker Pleads Guilty in Fatal Saskatchewan Crash
Sixteen people were killed and 13 players were hurt when a truck driven by Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, 29, collided with the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team's bus in rural Saskatchewan.
The driver of a truck involved in an April 6, 2018, crash with a bus transporting the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team pleaded guilty Jan. 8 to all charges against him. Sixteen people were killed and 13 players were hurt when a truck driven by Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, 29, collided with the bus in rural Saskatchewan. Sidhu subsequently was charged with 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The bus was taking the team to a playoff game in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League when the collision occurred.
Sidhu was not injured in the collision. In a court hearing Jan. 8, he said, "I plead guilty, your honor," according to a report by Ryan McKenna of The Canadian Press.
Following his plea, the case was adjourned until Jan. 28.
