Multiple Hazards Found at Missouri Auto Parts Manufacturing Facility
13 serious and one other-than-serious violation were found
After a complaint about unsafe working conditions at a facility that assembles auto parts, OSHA has issued 13 serious and one other-than-serious violation to Challenge Manufacturing of Kansas City, Missouri.
OSHA’s Kansas City office found the company failed to: conduct noise monitoring, ensure workers were using hearing protection, evaluate workplaces to determine permit-required confined spaces, install adequate machine guarding, and other violations.
"OSHA has specific guidelines to protect workers from dangerous machinery, chemicals and other hazards in the workplace," said Dave Keim, OSHA's acting area director for in Kansas City. "Challenge Manufacturing needs to re-evaluate its safety and health programs to ensure employees are being protected from job hazards."
Proposed penalties are worth $75,000.
