Ferdo Refrigeration Equipment, Inc., located in The Bronx, N.Y. faces additional fines for not correcting allegedly not correcting violations found in previous OSHA inspections. The additional fines total $108,080, according to a press release from OSHA's website.

The company, which refurbishes commercial refrigerators, is being cited for allegedly exposing workers to fires, explosions, falls, and chemical hazards and leaving them unable to exit the workplace quickly in an emergency. According to OSHA's area director for The Bronx, the additional fines are a result of the company failing to correct these life-threatening hazards. The company was originally cited in April 2013 for 15 serious violations totaling $16,447. As a result of the companys failure to respond to the citations, OSHA opened up a follow-up inspection in May.

According to OSHA, Ferdo Refrigeration has failed to correct eight hazards, which include failure to provide a guardrail to prevent falls from an open-sided floor, failure to ensure an exit did not discharge to a public way, failure to mark emergency exists, failure to provide explosion-proof wiring and equipment for areas where flammable gas is present, failure to write a chemical hazard communication program, and more.
