Delta Lands 2008 Green Cross for Safety Medal

Delta Air Lines is the recipient of the 2008 Green Cross for Safety Medal, NSC President and CEO Alan C. McMillan announced in Chicago last week. The award, bestowed annually since 1999, recognizes organizations and their leadership for outstanding achievements in safety and health, community service, and responsible citizenship. Superior work to advance safety and health with practices consistent with the mission of NSC are essential to selection, the council says.

"Delta Air Lines has demonstrated a safety culture and record that reflects a top-down approach to safety and health that begins in the boardroom and is shared by every employee, from corporate leadership to the flight crews," McMillan said.

Delta CEO Richard H. Anderson said, "We put people first, Delta people and Delta customers. It is our commitment to take the best possible care of Delta customers and each other while running a safe, highly professional and financially viable operation."

NSC will present Delta with the Green Cross for Safety Medal at a special award gala held in spring 2008. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
