82 Percent of Respondents Report Using Gift Card Incentives

An incentive gift card survey available on ManageSmarter, the online host site for Nielsen Business Media's trade publications, reports that after surveying 5,000 of its Incentive and Potentials magazine subscribers online from June 2-20, 2007, 82 percent of its 338 respondents reported they use gift cards and gift certificates as part of their incentive, recognition, and rewards programs.

More than half (56.8 percent) reported that their 2007 incentives budget remained that same as 2006, and nearly one-third (30.5 percent) had a budget increase. Only 12.7 percent reported a decrease.

Although when compared to last year "Recognizing Performance" only grew slightly as one of the reasons for using gift cards/certificates, it remained the top reason overall, 79.1 percent in 2007 versus 78 percent in 2006.
