$17,000 in Fitness Gear Aids FDNY Firehouses

HUB International Northeast Limited and Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. presented more than $17,000 of physical fitness equipment July 12 to two FDNY firehouses in the Bronx--Engine Company 75/Ladder Company 33 and Ladder Company 19.

"Maintaining physical fitness is crucial to the dangerous work of firefighters, and this donation will allow them to perform their duties more efficiently," the department said.

Engine Company 75/Ladder Company 33's grants also will go toward a technology training package to be used for FEMA-sponsored programs and presentations. The grant package is part of a program funded by Fireman's Fund to provide equipment, training, and educational tools to fire departments.

The department also recently celebrated 100th anniversaries of entering into service by three of its Queens companies: Engine Company 298/Ladder Company 127/Battalion 50, Engine Company 293, and Engine Company 299.
