According to a recent release, the violations stemmed repeatedly exposing workers to potentially fatal fall risks. OSHA reports that, on three occasions in May 2024, 595 Construction employees were found working on elevated structures without required fall protection equipment at three residential construction sites in Elburn, Illinois.
In addition, 595 Construction was cited for failing to certify training on fall prevention and for allowing the unsafe use of ladders. Additional violations included inadequate certification for operating powered industrial vehicles and using damaged slings to hoist materials. The recent citations include one willful violation, four repeat violations and three serious violations. OSHA cited the company for similar issues in 2022 and 2023.
“After OSHA opens an investigation at one worksite, we often find the same contractor has done nothing to correct similar hazards at its other sites and not bothered to make certain to train work crews on complying with federal safety protections,” OSHA Area Director Jacob Scott in Naperville, Illinois, said in a statement. “For several years, 595 Construction has shown a chronic disregard for safe work operations and a willingness to put its employees lives and well-being at risk.”
