New Best Practices Issued for Temporary Workers

New Best Practices Issued for Temporary Workers

NIOSH and other organizations like ASSP worked to put together the document.

A newly published document focuses on protecting a specific group of workers: temporary employees.

According to the press release, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and other partners released Protecting Temporary Workers: Best Practices for Host Employers. There are three sections in the document to help host employers:

  • “How to evaluate and address workplace safety and health in a written contract;
  • Training for temporary workers and their worksite supervisors; and
  • Injury and illness reporting, response, and recordkeeping.”

The document, influenced by the OSHA Temporary Worker Initiative, includes examples and a checklist for employers. The document is applicable to employers in all industries.

The document was put together by NIOSH, the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Services Sector Council, the American Society of Safety Professionals, the American Staffing Association and the Safety and Health Assessment and Research for Prevention program.

Want to learn more? The NORA Services Sector Council will host a webinar about this document on August 30, 2022, 11am to 12pm ET. Registration is open now.
