COVID-19 Death Toll in June Went Hand in Hand with Those Who Were Not Vaccinated

Dr. Anthony Fauci pleads Americans to take advantage of vaccine availability.

On Sunday, Dr. Anthony Fauci said more than 99 percent of people who died from COVID-19 in June of this year were not vaccinated, saying it was “avoidable and preventable.” Dr. Fauci explained that, of course, you will still see some vaccinated people hospitalized, but the overwhelming amount of people who “still get into trouble and get hospitalized and die” are those who didn’t get the shot. Nearly 10,000 people in the U.S. died from COVID-19 in June alone.

The country continues to make strides in its vaccination efforts, but fell short of President Joe Biden’s goal of having 70 percent of American adults at least partially vaccinated by July 4. According to an article, as of Sunday, 67.1 percent of U.S. adults were reported to have received at least one dose. 47.4 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. The Associated Press’ analysis of government data shows the recent death statistics of those not vaccinated.

Data shown from May displays that just 0.8 percent of people who died from coronavirus were fully vaccinated, which translates to 150 people out of more than 18,000 who died from the disease that same month. Dr. Fauci continued to urge people to put aside ideological or anti-science stances. He says, in part, “for goodness' sakes, put aside all of those differences and realize that the common enemy is the virus.”

Dr. Fauci describes how COVID-19 has disrupted our planet and economy in every possible way, and now, we have some sort of countermeasure. He says our country is very fortunate, and other countries would do anything to get vaccines. President Biden also said on Sunday, during his remarks before the fireworks show, getting vaccinated is “the most patriotic thing you can do.”

“So, please, if you haven't gotten vaccinated, do it — do it now for yourself, for your loved ones, for your community and for your country,” President Biden said. Biden added that, “while the virus hasn't been vanquished, we know this: It no longer controls our lives.”
