The New England Consortium Receives $6.6 Million Worker Safety Grant
The TNEC will continue to offer hazard training for workers with the help of the grant.

The New England Consortium (TNEC) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell was awarded a $6.6 million grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences to continue its worker training program.
The five-year grant will give the TNEC $1.3 million annually. Hazardous waste worker training will receive $1.13 million, while $194,000 will go to disaster preparedness training.
The TNEC is in partnership with the Civil Service Employees Association in New York and the Coalitions for Occupational Safety and Health in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire. It hopes to train more than 4,000 workers per year with the help of this grant.
The TNEC will resume its in-person training in January after switching to online training in April due to the pandemic.
