Hotel Workers Set to Lose Their Jobs As Industry Continues to Struggle
One in four hotel workers is unemployed right now, and the numbers are only expected to increase.

The hotel industry is struggling as a result of low travel since the COVID-19 pandemic swept the United States in March.
According to Forbes, 38,000 of the 58,000 hotels in America are on track to shut down unless they receive government aid.
Due to travel restrictions, stay at home orders and fears of traveling during the pandemic, hotels have seen a drastic decline in bookings. The American Hotel & Lodging Association reports that only 38% of Americans have traveled for pleasure since the pandemic began.
The loss of revenue connected to the decreased travel rate has led to many hotel workers losing their jobs – four out of ten hotel workers are currently unemployed according to USA Today. Without assistance from Congress, 74% of hotels will have to let more employees go, reports the AHLA.
