Showers Likely During NSC 2018

The early forecast for Houston during Oct. 22-24 shows a 40 percent chance of showers on the expo's first and second days.

The 14,000 safety and health professionals heading to the National Safety Council's Congress & Expo later this month may want to pack a raincoat and an umbrella for the trip, because the early weather forecast for Houston during Oct. 22-24 shows a 40 percent chance of showers on the expo's first and second days.

The weather could make the free bus lines operating through downtown a popular choice for NSC attendees trying to stay dry. The Green Route buses operate every 10 minutes during weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and make two stops near the George R. Brown Convention Center, where the Congress & Expo will take place. The Orange Route buses also operate every 10 minutes and make two stops near the convention center; Orange Route buses operate 6:30 p.m. to midnight on weekdays, 9 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays, and 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The Houston Astros might be playing Game 1 of the 2018 World Series on Oct. 23 -- they'll have to defeat the Boston Red Sox in this year's American League Championship Series to get there. Should a World Series Game 7 take place this year, it would be played on Halloween.
