Air Force to Certify 100 Service Members in Safety

The United States Air Force has announced plans to have 100 service members become Certified Safety Professionals (CSPs) within the next year.

The announcement was made as Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) CEO Dr. Treasa Turbeaugh gave a presentation on the value of certification with Bill Parsons, Air Force Chief of Occupational Safety.

"We care about our people, and we show that by doing what it takes to protect them," Parsons said. "I have issued a challenge that in the next year, 100 service members will prove their dedication to safety by becoming Certified Safety Professionals.”

All branches of the U.S. military recognize BCSP certifications. The military includes BCSP certification as part of its Credentialing Opportunities On-Line programs offering vouchers for payment of fees related to achieving or maintaining credentials, and BCSP itself offers application fee waivers for active duty, reserve component personnel, and veterans with a copy of official orders or official discharge papers, submitted upon application.

“The Air Force is a leader in the promotion of safety,” Turnbeaugh said. “We are proud to provide the agency a certification by which service members can demonstrate their commitment to safety, health, and environmental best practices.”
