Chemical Safety Board Meeting This Week

The board will discuss open investigations, the status of audits from the Office of the Inspector General, financial and organizational updates, and a review of the agency's action plan.

The members of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board will be meeting Oct. 20, starting at 1 p.m. Eastern in Washington, D.C., at the CSB offices (1750 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 910). The meeting is open to the public, and an opportunity for public comments will be provided.

The board will discuss open investigations, the status of audits from the Office of the Inspector General, financial and organizational updates, and a review of the agency's action plan, according to the meeting announcement.

CSB's most recent major action was release in late September of its final report on the 2014 release of chemicals from Freedom Industries' tanks in Charleston, W.Va., a release that contaminated the drinking water supply for hundreds of thousands of West Virginia residents.
