Pediatric Health Care Provider Cited for Failing to Protect Workers from Sexual Assault

Epic Health has been fined $98K after an investigation

After a home health care worker was sexually assaulted, AndVenture Inc. has been issued a willful citation for failing to protect its employees from the dangers of workplace violence. AndVenture Inc., which does business as Epic Health Services, is one of the nation’s leaders in providing pediatric home health and therapy services for medically frail and chronically ill children.

The company had received multiple reports of verbal, physical and sexual assaults on employees, and an investigation was opened on Feb. 1, 2016, after an employee was sexually assaulted by a client after the company had been warned by another employee.

"Epic Health Services failed to protect its employees from life-threatening hazards of workplace violence and failed to provide an effective workplace violence prevention program, said Richard Mendelson, OSHA regional administrator in Philadelphia.  "No worker should ever have to sacrifice their physical well-being to earn a paycheck."
