Plastics Company Doesn't Fix Fall Hazard, Now Owes $87K
MVP Plastics out of New York has been cited by OSHA for a repeat violation
An OSHA inspection discovered that MVP Plastics did not correct a fall hazard that was originally identified in 2015, leading to a repeat violation and a fine of $87,000, according to a news release.
The fall hazard was found on a fabricated work platform that was not inspected and marked for how much weight it could support.
MVP Plastics, also known as Jamestown MVP LLC, is located in Falconer, New York.
“Jamestown MVP LLC failed to protect its employees from electrical and fall hazards by not providing safeguards that are intended to prevent worker injury or even death,” said Michael Scime, OSHA’s area director in Buffalo. “The penalties for this inspection reflect OSHA’s commitment to hold employers responsible for failing to comply with safety standards, and to protect employee safety and health.”
