NFPA Webinar to Aid Volunteer FF Recruiting, Community Engagement

Country music star Craig Morgan, Firehouse Magazine, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation helped to launch the Step Up and Stand Out campaign earlier this year to recognize current volunteers and encourage citizens to investigate becoming volunteer firefighters.

The National Fire Protection Association and several other organizations, including the International Association of Fire Chiefs and its Volunteer & Combined Officers Section, and Kidde Fire Safety, are collaborating on a March 29 webinar starting at 2 p.m. EDT about volunteer firefighter recruitment and community engagement. It will help fire departments learn the best strategies to engage their community by conducting fire safety events and promote the Step Up and Stand Out program, a national campaign to recognize volunteer firefighters and promote community involvement in fire safety.

Country music star Craig Morgan, Firehouse Magazine, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation helped to launch the campaign earlier this year to recognize current volunteers and encourage citizens to investigate becoming volunteer firefighters.

At selected stops on Morgan's 2016 tour he will meet with local volunteer fire departments and donate Kidde 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms, while IAFC members will hold open houses at firehouses along the route.
