MSHA Topped 1,000 Special Impact Inspections Last Month

The December 2015 inspections at 10 coal mines and seven metal and nonmental mines resulted in 163 citations and five orders.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration announced that its inspectors issued 163 citations and five orders during special impact inspections conducted at 10 coal mines and seven metal and nonmetal mines during December 2015. The summary of orders and citations is available here.

Since 2010, MSHA has conducted 1,081 impact inspections and issued 15,695 citations, 1,299 orders, and 57 safeguards.

The December 2015 inspections were held at mines in Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
