$4.5 Million Awarded to Reduce Child Labor in Ghana

Winrock International has been awarded the money in order to reduce child labor in cocoa-growing communities in Ghana.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of International Labor Affairs has awarded $4.5 million to Winrock International as part of a four-year project titled "Mobilizing Community Action and Promoting Opportunities for Youth in Ghana's Cocoa-Growing Communities."

The purpose of the project is to empower cocoa-growing communities and help youths further their education or develop marketable skills.

The project will help 3,200 youths involved in cocoa-growing to further their education or develop marketable work skills. It will also provide livelihood services to approximately 1,600 female household members.
