MSHA Announces Results of December Impact Inspections

MSHA announced that federal inspectors issued 117 citations and four orders during special impact inspections.

MSHA announced that federal inspectors issued 117 citations and four orders during special impact inspections conducted at 10 coal mines and two metal and nonmetal mines in December.

The monthly inspections involved mines that garner increased attention and enforcement due to their poor compliance history or particular compliance concerns. Since April 2010, MSHA has conducted 863 impact inspections and issued 13,580 citations, 1,221 orders, and 55 safeguards. Impact inspections were conducted at mines in Arizona, Kentucky, Illinois, Maryland, Puerto Rico, Virginia, and West Virginia.
