Forever 21 Cited, Fines Exceed $200,000

The popular women's retail chain was cited by OSHA for alleged hazards at its New Jersey and New York stores.

OSHA announced its has cited Forever 21 for allegedly exposing workers to various safety hazards at shops based in Paramus, N.J., and in Manhattan. The company faces $236,500 in proposed fines as a result of two inspections completed in July.

OSHA cited the Paramus store for four alleged repeat violations, which include obstructed exit routes, a fire extinguisher that was improperly mounted and not readily accessible, stored material that was not secured against sliding or collapsing, and fluorescent lights that had no cover to prevent accidental contact or breakage.

The Manhattan location was cited for two alleged repeat violations: obstructed exit routes and fluorescent lights without covers. In addition, the Manhattan location received a serious citation because the store was not "kept clean and orderly."
