Methane Leak Kills Six Spanish Coal Miners

Ten other miners are believed to be trapped in the deep mine in Leon, the Spanish newspaper El Pais reports.

Emergency services have confirmed six coal miners died from a methane gas leak at a coal mine in León, Spain, that is operated by the Hullera Vasco Leonesa company, the Spanish newspaper El Pais reported Oct. 28.

The emergency responders evacuated five other mines, but 10 miners are believed to be still trapped underground, according to its report.

The incident happened at the Pozo Emilio del Valle mine.
