Guns to Be Allowed in Workplace Parking Lots in Certain States

"Bring Your Gun to Work" laws have been a hot topic in recent months, but due to new state laws being approved, the topic is yet again under fire. Many employers are fighting back against laws that permit employees to have guns in their cars and their parking lots, though not in the workplace, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Twenty-two states passed laws that limit an employer's ability to ban firearms in parking lots and vehicles, the newspaper reported. Several companies have fought back against this ruling, including Starbucks, FedEx, Volkswagen, and more. These companies hope to set their own rules on their properties. According to the Journal, some companies have "taken the changes in stride" and are already rewriting their human resources policies to detect early signs of aggression in their employees.
Some companies fighting the laws believe their parking lots are still their property, and they should have the right to decide whether or not guns are allowed there. Those who have accepted the laws in stride or support them believe the laws increase worker safety and that workers have a right to protect themselves during their commutes.
