Fall Protection Tops OSHA's FY2013 Violations
The top ten list announced Sept. 30 contains many familiar items, including Hazard Communication, powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, and electrical general requirements
CHICAGO - OSHA released its list of the ten most-violated standards during fiscal year 2013 on Sept. 30 at the 2013 National Safety Congress and Expo. Fall protection, with 8,241 violations, topped the list again, with two related topics—scaffolding (5,423 violations) and ladders (3,311 violations)—also making the list.
Hazard Communication ranked second during FY2013 with 6,156 violations, and respiratory protection (3,879 violations) ranked fourth, after scaffolding, which was third.
Electrical wiring methods (3,452 violations), powered industrial trucks (3,340 violations), lockout/tagout (3,254 violations), electrical general requirements (2,745 violations), and machine guarding (2,701 violations) also made the FY2013 list.
