Chicago Laborer Swept Away In Sewer
After a construction worker died being swept away in a sewer, federal investigators are trying to determine what went wrong and whether or not any OSHA violations occurred.
According to an article from The Daily Journal, investigators are looking into the death of a construction worker who was killed when he was swept away into a sewer during a storm.
Gustavo Briceno Jr., the worker, was a private contractor with Kenny Construction working on a project to line old sewers with protective material. He was working on this project when a storm came, rain began pouring in, and he was killed. He was wearing a wetsuit but not an air tank.
According to the article, investigators are trying to figure out what happened and whether or not the work violated OSHA regulations. Some points of interest are whether or not he should have been in the sewer during the storm and whether or not he was told to leave the sewer.
