Fallen Firefighters to Be Remembered

Over 150 firefighters will be honored through the Wall of Honor in Colorado Springs

This upcoming Saturday, September 21, 2013, Colorado Springs will hold a ceremony entitled the “2013 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial” where they will honor the names being added to their Wall of Honor. 157 firefighters from the past year will be remembered.

The names of firefighters who have fallen in 2013 have been etched into the Wall of Honor. Professional firefighters as well as family members of the fallen will be attending the event. Located at Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, the event will take place at 1 p.m.

The firefighters who will be honored passed away between June 1, 2012 and June 1, 2013. In total, the memorial holds nearly 3,000 names of firefighters who have died since 1976.

The names of the 19 men who battled the Yarnell Hill wildfire in Prescott, AZ will be etched into the wall in 2014.
