CSB Safety Videos Out in Updated Box Set

It's free and might be the perfect gift for your favorite hazmat expert.

The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, known as CSB, has produced a new box set of all safety videos produced up to now for its completed incident investigations. Three discs are in the set, which is available at no charge; to order it, fill out the DVD request form at the agency's website.

Some CSB videos have won awards. "The CSB Safety Videos are known around the world for their forceful depiction of the events that lead to deadly releases, explosions and fires, and their clear explanations of the root causes of the accidents -- all derived from the high-quality detailed investigations carried out by CSB staff," CSB Chairperson Rafael Moure-Eraso said in the agency's news release. "We believe the new three-disc set, including our latest videos, will facilitate distribution and bring safety awareness to an even higher level."

This set includes two videos released since the agency produced its last two-volume DVD compilation:

  • "Deadly Contract," showing how five federal subcontractors died from an explosion during a fireworks disposal operation in Hawaii
  • "Inherently Safer: The Future of Risk Reduction," examining the concept of inherent safety and its application across industry

CSB videos can be downloaded from www.csb.gov and viewed at www.YouTube.com/uscsb.
