Disneyland Rides Temporarily Closed Amid Employee Safety Concerns
Three rides, including the iconic Space Mountain ride, were closed last weekend at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.
The popular Space Mountain ride at Disneyland and two other roller coasters were closed last weekend as employee safety protocols were brought into question, The Washington Post and state authorities reported. Cal/OSHA issued citations to the theme park, causing the rides to be temporarily closed.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds and Soarin' Over California were closed to evaluate the safety of employees running and maintaining the rides. In November, a worker was injured while performing maintenance on the exterior of the Space Mountain ride.
After being cited for multiple fall hazards, Disneyland has yet to fix them, according to the state agency. While the Matterhorn reopened on Sunday, it is unclear when the other two rides will open.
A full copy of the citations received by Disneyland can be found on the Cal/OSHA website.
