Rust in Hyundai Sonatas may Cause a Recall
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will investigate complaints that the frames on these vehicles have a rust problem.
Hyundai Sonatas are under investigation after complaints have been received that the rear suspension frames on the cars can rust and fail. This investigation will focus on about 393,000 cars that are model years 2003 to 2008.
Six complaints of suspension failures were submitted to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with three of those occurring on the highway. While no crashes or injuries occurred, rust in the frame can cause control arms, where the wheels are attached, to fail.
The investigation, which was initiated on March 25, will determine the necessity of a recall to repair this danger.
