CDC Resumes Anti-Tobacco Ad Campaign

The second round of "Tips from Former Smokers" ads feature smoking-related health conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

CDC on March 28 announced it is launching a second round of its national anti-tobacco campaign, "Tips from Former Smokers," which feature former smokers describing their diseases and disabilities caused by smoking. Beginning April 1, the ads will run for at least 12 weeks on TV, radio, billboards, online, and in theaters, magazines, and newspapers nationwide.

The first round took place last year. CDC's announcement said these new ads feature smoking-related health conditions that include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, adult asthma, and complications from diabetes.

Nearly 20 percent of U.S. adults still smoke. Almost 90 percent of those who do smoke started before they were 18, according to the agency.
