NIOSH Meeting Focused on Safe Work with Pesticides
The two-day meeting in Washington, D.C., concerns how to motivate pesticide workers to use the best personal protective technology.
NIOSH will host its 2013 Pesticide Handler Personal Protective Technology stakeholders next month, a two-day event with the second day serving as a public meeting. Sessions will address the potential health effects of pesticide exposure, work safety culture, and using storytelling to motivate safer and healthier work practices. Pesticide handlers and pesticide workers will discuss their experiences.
Presenters from academia, the National Cancer Institute, and EPA are scheduled to participate, and an expert panel will allow stakeholders to "brainstorm on ways to collaboratively promote wide-spread adoption of best pesticide PPE work practices," as NIOSH's agenda for the March 25-26 event explains.
Along with people attending in person in Washington, D.C., another 100 remote stakeholder locations around the country will be linked online to the meeting.
