Washington L&I Updates Required Workplace Posters
The department announced it has mailed a new set to employers in the state because injured workers now must see a network medical provider for ongoing care.
Washington state's Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has mailed a new set of required workplace posters to employers in the state. A major change in the worker's compensation poster prompted it; injured workers now must see a network medical provider for ongoing care.
The network is a group of doctors and other health care providers L&I has approved to care for injured workers in Washington State.
Employers covered by Washington's comp program must post three workplace posters from L&I: Notice to Employees - If a Job Injury Occurs; Job Safety and Health Law; and Your Rights as a Worker. A self-insurance version of Notice to Employees was mailed to self-insured businesses.
Employers must post the new posters dated 12-2012 where employees can read them and should remove earlier editions. Additional free copies can be ordered at www.Posters.Lni.wa.gov.
Major changes in the posters include these:
- Notice to Employees – If a Job Injury Occurs: Information has been added on L&I's new medical provider network, and new ways to file a Report of Accident are listed, including online and by phone.
- For self-insured businesses, Notice to Employees – Self-Insurance: Information has been added on the new medical provider network, types of qualified health care providers are listed, and deadlines for filing claims are provided.
- Job Safety and Health Law: This poster lists a new requirement, that employers fix cited serious hazards during appeal or request a "stay" of abatement when they file an appeal, and now explains how workers can file a discrimination complaint if they believe their rights under the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act have been violated.
