NTSB Investigators Look into Train Collision with Parade Float
Four people were killed when a train collided with a float during a parade honoring veterans.
Following a tragic collision between a train and a float of veterans, federal officials are investigating the incident that resulted in the death of four people, in addition to the 17 injured.
Thursday afternoon, a Union Pacific freight train crossed paths with a float that was part of a parade honoring veterans in Midland, Texas. While the train did sound its horn, four people were still killed. The people on the float were injured soldiers and their families.
The accident occurred at 4:40 p.m., while they were en route to a banquet honoring the armed forces.
Preliminary investigations show that the lights at the train crossing were working properly.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board will be looking into the cause of the accident.
