DLI Offering Free Eyewash Workshops

State law requires employers to provide emergency washing/eyewash stations and PPE whenever employees could be exposed to corrosives, strong irritants, or toxic chemicals.

Noting that "It takes just one accidental splash of a corrosive substance, even a common household chemical like bleach, to cause serious or even permanent damage to a worker's eyes or skin," the Washington state Department of Labor & Industries (DLI) is about to commence a series of free workshops at its offices around the state to discuss eyewash requirements.

State law requires employers to provide emergency washing/eyewash stations and PPE whenever employees could be exposed to corrosives, strong irritants, or toxic chemicals. The free workshops will cover the requirements, hazard assessment, and basics of emergency eyewash equipment.
