New Report Reveals Cybersecurity Failures within Department of Labor
The Department of Labor is found to be lacking in cybersecurity protection.
An investigation into the Department of Labor’s secure information systems has proven that they may not be totally protected. Areas have been identified where cybersecurity for the agency is deficient.
Some of the most basic security measures are not taken. For example, inactive accounts were not closed in a timely manner and accounts aren’t locked after three failed login attempts.
Among these security concerns for the Department of Labor, more were detailed in a September 7 letter from DOL’s assistant inspector general for audit. Many of the security concerns included a PIV-II security system, or personal identity verification system.
