Repeat, Serious Violations Assessed Against Forklift Manufacturer
OSHA proposed more than $82,000 in fines against Hoist Liftruck Mfg. of Bedford Park, Ill.
An Illinois manufacturing company faces 25 health and safety violations following an OSHA investigation earlier this year. The citations received by Hoist Liftruck Mfg. include 18 serious violations and four repeat violations.
Hoist Liftruck produces and markets forklifts and employs about 150 employees in Bedford Park. The proposed fines amount to $82,170. The alleged violations range from not properly storing flammable containers to not adequately training forklift drivers or testing them every three years, and the repeat violations include allegedly failing to implement a hearing conservation program, provide welding curtains, and conduct fit testing and medical evaluations for workers required to wear respirators. Hoist Liftruck received similar citations to these in 2007, OSHA reported.
